Christopher Robin and his beloved Edward TeddyThis wooden cameo is yours free when you order Mini Edward from The Toy Shoppe! It is laser-engraved on both sides with a stylized image of Christopher Robin holding his beloved Edward as well as details about the edition. A marvelous accessory!

Mini Edward is a beautiful 7.5 inch replica of Christopher Robin's 18 inch Teddy bear who famously inspired AA Milne's beloved Winnie The Pooh stories. Originally created by Farnell's Alpha Toys in 1921, Daphne Milne purchased Edward Teddy from Harrods as a birthday gift for her son, Christopher Robin. Christopher formed a unique bond with his beloved Teddy and the two became the best of friends. Following a trip to the London Zoo, the young boy later renamed his bear after a beloved resident of the zoo, a black bear named Winnipeg, nicknamed 'Winnie' for short, and a swan named Pooh. Christopher's father, AA Milne, was enamored by the wonderful friendship he witnessed between a boy and his Teddy bear and was inspired to pen stories about their journey through life together. Thus began the tales of Winnie The Pooh.

Merryythought Mini Edward TeddyHandcrafted in England using the same traditional skills and materials as Christopher Robin's original Edward bear, this dapper little chap features a rich, antique-golden mohair coat and pure woolen felt paws of sandy-beige. Mini Edward measures a petite 7.5 inches and his five-way jointed body is weighted with beans. He fits perfectly in your hands and sure to capture your heart. He's the perfect little bear!

A History Of Fine, Handmade Teddy Bears In England Since 1930

Merrythought“Merrythought has been hand-making the quintessential English teddy bear in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire, since 1930 and is now the last remaining British teddy bear manufacturer. The company is a fourth generation family business founded by Mr W.G Holmes in 1930 as a diversification from his mohair mill in Yorkshire. Over the years a huge range of teddy bears, soft toys, dolls, push-along toys, rocking horses and other animals have been created in the famous factory.”

Why The Merrythought Emblem Is A Wishbone

Merrythought wishboneThe origin of the name Merrythought derives from an archaic name for a wishbone, a symbol of 'good luck'.
The wishbone has been the company's emblem since 1930.
