Our Merrythought Event Was Such Fun

Special thanks to Sarah Holmes from Merrythought and all of our friends who came to our shoppe to celebrate

On Saturday, December 1, Sarah Holmes visited The Toy Shoppe for her very first Event & Signing in the USA! We were thrilled to host her and the many collectors who came to meet her. There were special Merrythought goody bags, a Teddy bear raffle, special offers and a very special edition to make this event fun and exciting. We took a few photos... here are a few memories from that special day with Sarah and friends at The Toy Shoppe:

Making Friends! Sarah greeted many of our collector friends (like Elizabeth and John) and signed their adorable Merrythought editions! She wore her famous mohair stole which she first wore on the red carpet at the opening premiere of the movie "Goodbye, Christopher Robin" for which Merrythought made the Teddy bear who starred in the movie as Winnie The Pooh.
Special note: Sarah's sumptuous fur stole was specially made for her using the same mohair as Edward Teddy bear.

Special Edition! Our new Merrythought USA exclusive, Mini Edward, was a big hit at our event. His design is based on the original Farnell Edward who was famously Christopher Robin's Teddy bear. We created a special wood cameo just for him laser-engraved with an image of Christopher Robin and Edward!

A Beary Special Guest! Along with being the Managing Director of the company, Sarah is the great-granddaughter of Merrythought's founder, Gordon Holmes. She has spent her entire life around Teddy bears and has a deep knowledge and affection for them that we found to be very contagious.

Very Merry Toys! Sarah Holmes with Danny and Barrie Shapiro, owners of The Toy Shoppe, along with a few marvelous Merrythought friends.

Stealing A Hug!
Our very own Kathy shares a quick hug with Merrythought's popular Antique Panda, one of many delightful Merrythought bears available to be signed at The Toy Shoppe on event day.

Helpful Hubby Hugs!
More than one husband got to hug onto some choice Teddy bears while their wives were shopping the many furry friends on display in our shoppe or just chatting about Teddys with Sarah and our staff!

Cheerio, ole chap! When they entered the shoppe, collectors were greeted with a fun selection of Merrythought Teddy bears and animal friends. The "little elves" around the shoppe worked extra hard to add some British flair to the displays.

A Great Read! Barrie and Sarah take a quick look through The Magic Of Merrythought, a magnificent 200 page hardbound book that explores the history of Merrythought who first began making Teddy bears in 1930! As part of our special Merrythought event, The Toy Shoppe is giving this book away FREE with the purchase of a 2018 Merrythought Christmas Teddy.
