How our interest-free,
AMC payment plans work

We will, with your authorization, automatically charge a pre-determined amount to your VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express charge card each month on the same date. If you prefer, you may send a series of postdated checks instead of using a charge card. For example: AMC $50.00 for 4 months would require four $50.00 checks each dated one month apart.

AMC monthly payment plans require that a payment be made each month and your order will ship when paid in full. Applicable shipping costs can be included with your payments.

Payment plans longer than 6 months are charged a one-time processing fee of $12.00.

Cheeky Peanut
by Merrythought

Undeniably precious, Cheeky Peanut is one of our newest Merrythought Exclusives! Entirely handmade in Merrythought's family-owned Teddy Bear shop in England, this little tan mohair bear measures a petite 6.75 inches. Cheeky Peanut 'bears' the iconic Merrythought grin with friendly black eyes and a little hand-stitched nose. He is five-way jointed, bean-filled for added weight and has soft cotton-velvet paw pads. As the signature of a true Cheeky Bear, he features a jingle bell in each ear and is finished with a prestigious stamp of approval: the famous Merrythought gold-and-black label stitched to the right paw. He comes with his very own hand-carved wooden peanut accessory... packaged in a little bag tied with a wooden Merrythought tag for an extra special touch. Each Cheeky Peanut will include 1 hand-carved wooden peanut. Please Note: Wooden peanuts is not edible or safe for small children. Suitable for ages 3 and up if all accessories, ribbons and labels are removed before giving to a child aged below age 3.  A Toy Shoppe Merrythought Exclusive edition limited to only 50 pieces worldwide.

A 'Cheeky' Little Bear
The Cheeky Bears first appeared in a 1955 book and were called New Teddy T. They were described as a completely new range of bears with amber eyes, growls and very softly stuffed. There's a story (which may be fictitious) that Cheeky's name came about as a result of a member of England's Royal Family picking him up at a trade show in 1956 and -- having studied him closely -- pronouncing him 'a cheeky little bear.' This story has been repeated many times, with the Royals in question, sometimes named as the late queen mother or even the present queen. Members of the Royal Family did visit the Merrythought stand at the British Industries Fair in the late 1950s, so it may be true!

PLEASE NOTE: Prices may change due to changes in the British Pound/ US Dollar exchange rate.

A History Of Fine, Handmade Teddy Bears In England Since 1930

Merrythought“Merrythought has been hand-making the quintessential English teddy bear in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire, since 1930 and is now the last remaining British teddy bear manufacturer. The company is a fourth generation family business founded by Mr W.G Holmes in 1930 as a diversification from his mohair mill in Yorkshire. Over the years a huge range of teddy bears, soft toys, dolls, push-along toys, rocking horses and other animals have been created in the famous factory.”

Why The Merrythought Emblem Is A Wishbone

Merrythought wishboneThe origin of the name Merrythought derives from an archaic name for a wishbone, a symbol of 'good luck'.
The wishbone has been the company's emblem since 1930.

The World-Famous Merrythought Footlabel

Merrythought bears can be easily identified by the distinctive label on their footpad - traditionally on the right foot although some earlier bears may vary.
