We will, with your authorization, automatically charge a pre-determined amount to your VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express charge card each month on the same date. If you prefer, you may send a series of postdated checks instead of using a charge card. For example: AMC $50.00 for 4 months would require four $50.00 checks each dated one month apart.

AMC monthly payment plans require that a payment be made each month and your order will ship when paid in full. Applicable shipping costs can be included with your payments.

IN STOCK!

Don't miss out! The last remaining pieces of this beautiful limited edition can only be found at The Toy Shoppe. When she is gone, she is gone! The distinctive Cheeky Bear is a flagship Merrythought character, well-loved and collected across the globe.

Based on the original 1950s design, Cheeky Catherine is handcrafted in England using the same traditional skills used to create the bears of days gone by. She mesures 10 inches, is made from mohair and features ultra soft velvet paws with hand-stitched claws. Her amusing, cheeky look comes together with friendly eyes and a hand-stitched expression. She is five-way jointed and bean-filled for extra softness... a wonderful hug of a bear! Catherine is the picture of royal elegance in her couture navy velvet coat with faux pearl trim and coordinating bow. As the signature of a true Merrythought Cheeky Bear, she features a jingle bell in each ear! A lovely blue velvet bow atop her head completes Catherine's regal appeal. Suitable for ages 14 and up. A Merrythought edition limited to only 100 pieces worldwide.

A 'Cheeky' Little Bear
The Cheeky Bears first appeared in a 1955 book and were called New Teddy T. They were described as a completely new range of bears with amber eyes, growls and very softly stuffed. There's a story (which may be fictitious) that Cheeky's name came about as a result of a member of England's Royal Family picking him up at a trade show in 1956 and -- having studied him closely -- pronouncing him 'a cheeky little bear.' This story has been repeated many times, with the Royals in question, sometimes named as the late queen mother or even the present queen. Members of the Royal Family did visit the Merrythought stand at the British Industries Fair in the late 1950s, so it may be true!

Only soft toys of the highest quality are allowed to carry the trusted Merrythought label. Merrythought ensures the utmost care and attention to detail goes into everything that they do, right down to the hand-embroidered nose and delightful smile that makes each Teddy bear so unique.

A Merrythought is not just a Teddy bear, but an exquisite piece of British heritage and a loyal companion through life.

A History Of Fine, Handmade Teddy Bears In England Since Before 1930

Merrythought“Merrythought has been hand-making the quintessential English teddy bear in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire, since 1930 and is now the last remaining British teddy bear manufacturer. The company is a fourth generation family business founded by Mr W.G Holmes in 1930 as a diversification from his mohair mill in Yorkshire. Over the years a huge range of teddy bears, soft toys, dolls, push-along toys, rocking horses and other animals have been created in the famous factory.”

Why The Merrythought Emblem Is A Wishbone

Merrythought wishboneThe origin of the name Merrythought derives from an archaic name for a wishbone, a symbol of 'good luck'.
The wishbone has been the company's emblem since 1930.
