Tayla
by Sarah Niemela

Tayla is a beautiful young girl created by doll artist Sarah Niemela. A one-of-a-kind doll sculpted from Cernit, a polymer clay, she sits 22 inches by 16 inches by 16 inches on a glass mosaic trunk. Her head and arms may be gently, carefully posed. Sarah's subtle and delicate sculpting in Tayla's hands are very natural. Tayla's eyes are brown hand-blown glass and Sarah crafted her magnificent wig using back fleece locks. Tayla's clothing is sewn with fine cotton, lace and leather. She wears a batik bodice trimmed with lace, a leather blazer, a cotton lace skirt in three layers and a beaded sash. Her shoes are made from leather with added trim and bows. Remarkable!

Tayla is a OOAK (one-of-a-kind) doll sculpted, hand-painted and outfitted entirely by artist Sarah Niemela. She is a wonderful size for display.

Please Note: Tayla's clothing is not meant to be removed.

Exceptional Polymer Clay Dolls & Ornaments By Sarah Niemela

Polymer Clay Crations by Sarah NiemelaIn her charming Minnesota country studio, Sarah creates one-of-a-kind dolls and ornaments. She gently shapes polymer clay to capture the essence of children's many personalities. Her dolls are exceptionally realistic. She bases the doll's features on her own children and their friends, who are often called into her studio to model. Through skills in sculpture and drawing learned at a local art center and the ability to see and capture form and dimension, she is able to make her creations come alive.

Sarah works with the finest fabrics for the doll's clothing. She chooses silks, finely woven cottons and vintage handkerchiefs to complete the design of each doll. Some of the doll's accessories are made by her while others are purchased from an antique or gift shop. From the tops of the dolls' heads to the tips of their toes, every detail is important. Like children, her dolls loved being fussed over.
