Alexander Doll Company was started in 1923 by Beatrice Alexander Behrman, who was the daughter of Russian immigrants and became known as Madame Alexander in Playthings magazine in 1928. Madame Alexander dolls have always been synonymous with quality and collectibility. The Alexander Doll Company has created many firsts, including: a doll based on a licensed character, Scarlett; dolls in honor of living people, such as Queen Elizabeth; and the first full figured fashion doll, Cissy. Today, the Alexander Doll Company continues to offer fine quality dolls and baby dolls.
